Fun Walk:  Ballinlough/ Granlahan Defibrillator Group will hold a fun walk on Bank Holiday Monday, October 28th, commencing at the church, Granlahan at 3pm.   The walk will end at the Time Out Café, Ballinlough, where refreshments will be served.   Walking is one of the simplest exercises for promoting a healthy heart so come out and join us in the walk, everyone welcome.
Church Gate Collection in aid of Western Alzheimers will be held in Ballinlough, Granlahan & Cloonfad on 2nd & 3rd Nov.   Your support would be appreciated.
Under 12’s Halloween Disco in Campbells Lounge, Ballinlough on Halloween night. Thursday 31st Oct from 6-8pm.   Adm €5 per child; €10 per family.   Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.   Proceeds to Ballinlough Youth Café.

Holy Souls:  The month of November is approaching.  It is a month in which we remember especially the souls of the faithful departed, our own loved ones who have gone before us, marked with the sign of faith.  We hope to have the usual Novena of Masses for the Holy Souls during the month of November.

Celebration of Marriage Anniversaries:   A celebration of Marriage Anniversaries will take place at 3pm on Sunday 30th October Tuam Cathedral.   Chief celebrant: Archbishop Michael Neary.   A renewal of marriage vows will take place, after which each couple will receive a candle and Prayer Card in remembrance of the occasion.   Couples celebrating 10th, 20th, 25th, 30th, 40th, 50th, 60th or upwards are especially invited to attend.  Also invited are families and friends to join them for this special occasion.   Needless to say, any couple celebrating any anniversary is most welcome.  Each parish is encouraged to send as many couples as possible to attend what is a celebration of Marriage and Family Life, in this Year of Faith. Eirgrid Grid West open day on 17th October in the BMW Assembly, Ballaghaderreen, Co Roscommon from 1-8pm to view maps and information on the emerging preferred route corridor.   Information showing maps on the preferred route corridor for the 440kV power line for the Grid West project will be on display.

Dressmaking/Shabby Chic Course:  Thursday evening 7.30pm.- Time Out Café.  This craft project course is a fun programme which allows the participants the opportunity to explore the craft of patchwork or craft making plus Shabby Chic.  It will enhance your knowledge of materials, sewing techniques and the process involved to create a well constructed patchwork quilt or several craft projects from a design brief.   The class is open to the complete beginner, as well as the more advanced.   Different projects will teach you new skills, with each level building onto the next until you can create decorative, artistic or fashion items.
Actors Wanted:  The Time Out Drama Club intends stage Moll, a three act play by John B Keane in February 2014.   Moll is a comedy play about a priest’s housekeeper.   We are looking for persons to participate in the play.   Auditioning will take place in Time Out Café on Monday 7th October @ 8pm.   If you are interested , you are most welcome.

Art Classes will resume in Michael Glavey’s Community Centre @ 11am on Saturday 12th Oct.
Harvest Festival for older people will be held in Four Mile House on Tuesday 1st October at 11am.  Anyone interested in attending contact Kevin Sexton @ 094 9621630.   This is important to cater for numbers.

Tidy Towns:  Ballinlough Environment Committee wishes to thank everyone who helped and supported the committee with their endeavours to re-enter the Tidy Towns competition this year.   They are delighted to report and excellent result by achieving 222 marks out of a possible 400 in their category.   Thanks to the whole community and businesses for their generous donations over the past years.   Thanks to Roscommon County Council, the Fás and RSS workers and residents of Henley House for their help and commitment, and a special thank you to the many village residents who watered the potted plants throughout the village during the summer months.   We look forward to increasing our marks in 2014 and with the continued support of the whole community, there is no doubt we will.   Hidden cameras are in place in our village at black spot locations.   Everyone deserves to live in a clean and healthy environment, so please keep Ballinlough a litter free village.
